25年以上もの長きにわたり第一線で活躍し続け、驚異的なキャリアを誇る、作曲家、編曲家、音楽プロデューサー。
80年代初頭のアイドル歌謡曲時代から、インストゥルメンタル・アーティスト、近年のシンガー・アーティストに至るまで広範囲にわたり何百何千もの楽曲、アーティストを手掛け、くわえて、映画、TVなど、あらゆる映像音楽（サウンド・トラック）分野でも活躍、あわせて膨大な数の大ヒットを、絶えず世に送り出している。
90年代よりヨーロッパでも活動、パリでのクラブ経営、英仏アーティストの楽曲も手掛ける。また日本人として初めて韓国映画の音楽監督もつとめた。
近年の代表作はMISIA、平井堅、CHEMISTRY、エリーシャ・ラヴァーン、SMAP、「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」「MUSA」「CASSHERN」など。
自身のアーティスト活動も”SHIRO'S SONGBOOK”シリーズとして継続中、最新CDが2005年8月avexより発売される。
R&B専門誌への長期連載、USENサイトへのコラム、ブログなどの執筆活動も盛ん。現在ロンドン、パリ、東京の３ヶ所に在住。
