いろいろ学ばせていただきました
昨日、赤坂某所でPYRAMID取材。
と、さらっと書いたものの実際にはドキドキだったわけですよ。
なにせメンバーの3人は、
21歳でデビューして以来ギタリスト、アレンジャー、プロデューサーとして大活躍し、TV番組『世界遺産』テーマ曲でもおなじみの鳥山雄司さん、
80年代にカシオペアのドラマーとして圧倒的なドラミングを見せ、近年は熱帯JAZZ楽団らともコラボしている神保彰さん、
カシオペアと並ぶトップ・フュージョン・グループのスクエアで活動を続け、脱退後は自己作品のみならず幅広く活動するピアニストの和泉宏隆さん。
70年代後半から80年代にかけてのフュージョン・ブームを通り抜けてきた世代ならおわかりかと思うが、揃って全員がただものではないのである。
だけど、お会いしてみると3人とも無駄な気合いのようなものがなく、つまりは人として円熟しており、とても気持ちよく話ができた。
で、わずか3、4歳下なのに、僕はちっとも円熟してないなーと痛感。
まあ、よい（よかぁない）。
セカンド・アルバムの『TELEPATH』、めちゃめちゃ高品質。
自信を持ってオススメできますぜ。
その後、舞浜のクラブ・イクスピアリへ移動して、今度は上田正樹さんにインタビュー。
前に会ったのが↑この新作『フリーダム』リリース時のライヴだったから、上田さんとは数カ月ぶりかな。

この後のライヴもすごくよかったですよ。
しかしいつお会いしても常に前を向いて、本当に戦ってる人だなあと思う。
PYRAMIDに続き、彼にもまた触発された。
そんなわけで、計4人の先輩からいろんなものを学んだ気がした一日だったのでした。
というか、下の世代の自分ももっとがんばらなあかん。

僕、ちっともマニア志向ではないし。
よく、「僕はジャンルが好きなわけではなく、音楽が好きなのだ」とかしょっちゅう発言してますし（笑）。
ホワイト・ストライプスは僕も好きですよー。
