ソウル・ヴォーカルに求めるもの
男性ヴォーカルと女性ヴォーカルのどちらが好きかと問われれば、僕は迷わず前者を選ぶ。
ヘンな趣味があるわけではなく（とかわざわざ書くから、たまにそういう人に間違えられるのだぞ！）、単純にホッとするんですよね。
さらっと聴くことができるぶん、一般的には女性ヴォーカルの方が好まれるのかもしれないけれど。
そう、だから2001年に『ゲットー・ラヴ』でジャヒームが出てきたときにも、最初は「それほど売れないかもしれない」と思ったりもしたのだ。
歌唱力も表現力もすばらしいんだけど、一般的な女性などには「濃すぎる」かなと思って。
でも、取り越し苦労でしたね。
その後の『スティル・ゲットー』もよかったし、着実に歩みを進めている。
でね、3作目にあたるこの新作『ゲットー・クラシックス』がまたスンバラシイんだ。
濃くて包容力があり……と、ソウル・ヴォーカルに対する僕の好みにフィットする持ち味は相変わらず。聴いてるとホッとします。

そうそう、いいんですよジャヒーム。
個人的には、これまでで一番いいと思ってます。
ルーサー彷佛説は同感ですね。
国内盤のライナーで、昔お世話になった出田さんが「ルーサーとテディペンの中間」みたいな表現をしているんですが、ホントそうだと思います。
こういう人は、もっともっと評価されなくちゃですよな。
