サリーちゃんのモンキー・ダンス
今日は終日、原稿書きに明け暮れていた。
その過程で聴いた一枚がこれ。
マーキーズの初期作品2枚をパッケージした『Last Night/Do The Pop-Eye』。
マーキーズは、ブッカー・T＆ザ・MG'sの前身。
当然ながらブッカー・Tやスティーヴ・クロッパー、ドナルド・ダック・ダンらMG'sの主要メンバーが舵取りをしていたわけで、それが後年、ふたつに分裂したという流れだ。
で、ヒット曲「ラスト・ナイト」がそうであるように、ホーンを主軸としていたこちらはMG'sよりもやや軽めのインストゥルメンタル・ナンバー満載。
楽しい、かわいい、グルーヴィー。
でも個人的につい連想しちゃうのは、サリーちゃんとかカブとかよしこちゃんとか三つ子の兄弟が、ダンス・パーティでモンキー・ダンスを踊っている姿。
そういう場面のバックに流れてた音楽のイメージなんだけど、なんとなくわかるでしょ？
