コモンの新作について
実はコモンの前作『ジ・エレクトリック・サーカス』に僕はまったく共感できなかった。
ああいう路線に走る気持ちはわからなくもないが、あんなことなら彼以外にでもできると思っていたから。
だから、なんだか遠い存在になってしまったような印象を持っていたのだが、今回の『Be』にはいい意味で予想を裏切られた。
当然といえば当然の原点回帰。
無駄をそぎ落としたヒップホップ・アーティストとしての彼の姿が表現されている。
いまだファースト『Can I Borrow A Dollar?』とセカンド『Ressurrection』が最高傑作と信じて疑わない僕も、これには充分納得できたな。
聴いていると、なんだかじーんとしてくる。
