起きたら雨が降っていて
なんとなく、しみったれた気分になっていたから……というわけではないのだが、朝一番にナイン・ヤーズの'99年作『Where Do We Go From Here』を聴いてみた。
振り返ればあんまり話題にもならなかった、UKのR&Bトリオ。
グループ名（Nine Yards）の由来は、「ここまでたどり着くのに9年もかかった」からだそう。
んなこと知るか。
苦労自慢されても困る。
でも苦労人だけあって、いま聴いても「いいな」と思える歌を歌う。
数々のしがらみを乗り越えてきた軌跡が見える。
結局のところ昨日も力説した「貧乏くささ」にまたつながっていくのだが、それってブラック・ミュージックの大切な要素だと思うのだな。
しみったれた気分を引きずりつつ（そんなことはない）、これから渋谷で打ち合わせです。
