昨日に引き続き
同じネタで2日も引っぱるというのはどうかと思うのだが、ジャンク・ヤード・バンドについてもうちょっと。
ただでさえマイナーなGo Goシーンにおいて、（この世界では）メジャーなトラブル・ファンクやチャック・ブラウンにくらべれば、この人たちはさらにマイナー感が濃厚なのである。
その貧乏くささが愛しい。
そしてそれこそ、Go Goの本質でもある。
これは'91年のライヴ・アルバム『Don't Sleep On Us』。
アルバム・タイトルよりもデカく、しかし貧相な書体で「D.C. GO-GO」とか書いてあるあたりが貧乏ったらしくて泣かせる。
ちなみにこのグループは80年代からジャンク・ヤード・バンドなのだが、このアルバムの表記はなぜか「Junk Yard」。
写真は、パンツ一丁で寝ている男性が、横の方にちょこっと映っている女性から肩を叩かれ起こされているというシチュエーション。
恐らくは、「早く起きないとジャンク・ヤードのライヴに遅れるよ」ってことを表現しているのではないか？
しかしどう見ても、あやしいマッサージ・サロンに紛れ込んでしまったやるせない黒人青年にしか見えない。
そういうところが、とてもよい。
もちろん音も。
究極のワンパターンというべき、ノンストップのゴー・ゴー・スウィングだ。
