今朝の音楽
ソロ・シンガーとしても「フリー」などのクラシックスを持っているデニース・ウィリアムスって、コラボレーション作品でもいい味の出せるシンガーだ。
昨日の日記を書いてみて、改めて感じた。
で、そんなことを考えていたら、ひさしぶりに大好きなアルバムを聴きたくなった。
ジョニー・マティス＆デニース・ウィリアムスの'78年作『That's What Friends Are For』。
邦題は『琥珀色のハーモニー』（ですって）。
マティスのアルバム『ユーライト・アップ・マイ・ライフ』から「涙のデュエット(Too Much,Too Little, Too Late)」がヒットしたことに端を発し、その勢いに乗って制作されたデュエット・アルバムだ。
「涙のデュエット」はすっごくいい曲で大好きなんだけど、このアルバムにしても完成度の高さは同じ。
マーヴィン・ゲイとタミー・テリルの共演でおなじみの「あなたがすべて(You're All I Need To Get By)」を筆頭に、質が高く聴きやすい楽曲多数。
ビリー・ジョエルの「素顔のままで」なんかもカヴァーしてるんですぜ。
スティーヴ・ルカサーら、バックを固めるミュージシャンの演奏にも安定感がある。
正直、ジャケにはキツいものがあるのだが、中身は絶対的にオススメです（っていい方もどうかと思う）。
